Set of 4 Vintage Japanese Celadon Glazed Scallop Shell Dishes, circa 1970s.

charming set of four vintage Japanese ceramic dishes, moulded in the form of scallop shells. Each piece has deeply defined radiating ribs, an organically shaped rim and a softly lustrous pale celadon-green glaze.

The gently raised shell form gives the dishes a sculptural quality, making them lovely for serving individual appetisers, seafood, olives, nuts or sweet treats. They would also work beautifully as small trinket or soap dishes in a coastal-inspired interior.

Marked “Made in Japan” to the underside.

Vintage condition with minor firing speckles, glaze variation and small age-related marks, all contributing to their character. Please refer to photographs. One shell has a nibble to the corner, no other damage seen.
