Original Painting Albert Smith Watercolour of the Sailing Ship Aristides, After J. R. Sperling

A finely executed maritime watercolour by Albert Smith, depicting the celebrated clipper ship Aristides under full sail. The composition is based on the renowned marine painting by John R. Sperling, capturing the vessel powering through deep blue seas with beautifully rendered rigging and billowing canvas.

Presented beneath a double-lined grey mount with the title “ARISTIDES” and housed in a traditional gilt-toned wooden frame, this is a striking piece for a study, library, coastal home or country house interior.

The Aristides was an iron full-rigged sailing ship built in Aberdeen in 1876 for George Thompson Jr. & Co.’s Aberdeen White Star Line. She enjoyed a distinguished merchant service before being lost in 1903.
