A beautiful original WMF (Württembergische Metallwarenfabrik), Germany Art Nouveau pedestal fruit bowl dating to approximately 1906–1915.
The bowl retains its original removable ribbed glass liner and is decorated with a repeating repoussé frieze of apples, pears and grapes, a classic Jugendstil motif reflecting the naturalistic designs of the period.
The underside bears the WMF ostrich mark with WMF G and the pattern designation “AKT”, confirming its authenticity.
The silver-plated finish has developed a wonderful mellow champagne patina through more than a century of gentle wear, giving it the understated character so admired in traditional English country house interiors. The silver plate remains intact overall, with expected age-related wear and spotting consistent with an antique piece of this age.
The original glass insert sits securely within the bowl and is increasingly difficult to find, making complete examples like this particularly desirable.
