beautifully elegant Art Deco crystal inkwell, dating to the early 20th century and featuring the strong geometric lines so characteristic of the period.
Cut from a substantial block of clear crystal, the inkwell has a wonderfully architectural form, with a stepped pen rest cascading down the front and a deep integral glass well. A large faceted crystal lid sits within a brass-tone hinged collar, its warm, gently aged patina contrasting beautifully with the clarity of the crystal.
Both practical and decorative, it would have originally taken pride of place on a writing desk and today makes a particularly handsome addition to a study, library or traditional desk setting.
The crystal shows some light surface wear commensurate with age and the metalwork retains an attractive aged patina, all adding to the character of this lovely old piece.
Dimensions: approximately 8cm high × 9cm long × 5cm wide.
Date: c.1920s–30s
Material: Crystal/glass with brass-tone metal fittings
