A wonderfully characterful late 19th-century bamboo occasional table, dating to the Victorian Aesthetic Movement period, circa 1880–1900.
The table has an elegant, unusually petite form with a shaped octagonal top measuring approximately 30 x 30cm, raised on slender bamboo legs with decorative cross-bracing and a useful lower tier. The bamboo retains its beautifully mottled, time-worn finish, with warm honey and deep brown tones giving the piece plenty of authentic antique character.
The top and lower tier have been later covered in a subtle neutral leafy fabric, which sits quietly against the aged bamboo.
A lovely decorative piece for an English country or eclectic interior. Its tall, narrow proportions make it particularly useful where space is limited — perfect beside an armchair or sofa, as a small lamp table, plant stand or hallway accent table.
Dimensions:
Height: 71cm
Top: approx. 30 x 30cm
Condition: In good decorative antique condition with acceptable age-related wear, marks and variation to the bamboo finish, all of which form part of its character and patina. The fabric coverings are later additions. 1 bamboo cross bar missing. This does not affect the stability or beauty.
