Antique Rare Victorian Landseer Print – The Setters, 1874

A rare original Victorian colour print entitled The Setters, after a drawing by celebrated British animal painter Sir Edwin Landseer, R.A.

Published as a double-page supplement to The Illustrated London News on 19 September 1874, the scene depicts a group of setters working across a rugged Highland landscape. The softly muted palette and finely drawn detail give the print the appearance of an original watercolour and ink study.

The central vertical fold is original to its publication as a double-page magazine plate and forms part of its history. Presented  in a traditional wooden oak frame with a generous layered mount.         Size 39cmx29cm
